Mochi — The Kpop Dance App

01 / SUMMARY

After the first year, the company decided to target a specific audience: Kpop fans

This called for a series of activities such as reviewing the existing user experience so the product would cater more for these users.

MY ROLE

User research, brainstorming and feature prioritisation.

02 / USER INTERVIEWS

From user interviews with Kpop fans, we observed that this audience has a strong need for connecting, interacting and collaborating with each other. The interviews helped us to answer some very important questions.

✨ How do K-pop fans find and connect with each other?

✨ What platforms are they using?

✨ What type of content gets shared?

✨ What kind of response do they want to their content?

✨ What interactions happen between them?

✨ Who interacts with their content?

✨ What are other apps doing?

✨ As they learn K-pop dances how do they support and help each other?

✨ What do K-coverist want to do when they are not dancing?

“The Kpop community is incredible! It’s super positive, kind and we support each other by giving feedback about each others dances. I’ve also made so many friends!”

05 / PROPOSED MVP

👉 Users will be able to search for other users, games to play and groups to join.

👉 Users will be able to comment on dances posted by any other user.

👉 Users will be able to create groups, invite other users and post their dances within the group.

👉 Users will be able to invite their friends (outside Mochi) to join their group.

👉 Users will be able to tag their dance to let the community know that they are open for feedback.

06 / PRIORITISATION

Following the Kano Model, we categorized potential solutions to those problems into basic, performance, and excitement.

BASIC: Without these features, the experience would not work.

PERFORMANCE: These features add value to the experience.

EXCITEMENT: Users would love these features.
